Sensory-Friendly Holiday Events for Special Needs Families
AARF sponsors Sensory-Friendly Trick-or-Treat and Photo Sessions with Santa for children with autism and other special needs. These events provide an avenue for families with special needs children to enjoy holiday celebrations that they otherwise may not be able to participate in.
Services for Veterans affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury
As part of our outreach to those with special needs, AARF is honored to provide services to our veterans who have been affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury. PTSD affects approximately 20% of veterans, and the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center reported nearly 414,000 TBIs among US servicemen as of 2019. AARF is proud to serve US troops in their recovery efforts.
American Autism & Rehabilitation Center (AARC)
AARF raises funding to help fund programs and therapies at AARC. Born out of personal experience and need, the AARC was created to provide hope and help to families living in the world of special needs. They recognize that providing comprehensive services and therapies in one location can greatly benefit families with special-needs loved ones.
Autism Resource Fairs
Autism Resource Fairs are events setup to support those that live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. The resource fairs aim to provide those individuals with helpful information about services and providers that they can utilize.
Autism Society of Alabama
Every month, the Autism Society of Alabama helps approximately 600 individuals with autism spectrum disorders, their parents and their service providers. Services offered include information and resource assistance, community events, safety resources, and family camps among many others.
